Morgan  State University Alumni
Georgia  Chapter  2009
Oh, What a Night …
On August 1, 2009, The Georgia Chapter of Morgan State University Alumni Association hosted Morgan’s retiring president, Dr. Earl S. Richardson; the Director of Alumni Relations, Ms. Joyce Brown; and Cheryl Hitchcock, Vice President of Institutional Advancement at a dinner at Landon’s Restaurant in Atlanta. This dinner was Dr. Richardson’s first stop on his “victory tour” commemorating 25 years of his presidency and outstanding service to our alma mater.  I would like to thank everyone who had a part in making this evening a success. Thank you to Art Burrell and Fawn Thompson for securing the restaurant, Charlene Love who planned the evening, Marc Boston for driving our guests and for acting as Master of Ceremonies for the event, and to Marian X for delighting us with some of her original readings. A special thanks to artist George Nock for donating one of his beautiful pieces for our chapter's thank you gift to Dr. Richardson.  I also want to thank Al Miller and Kenneth Mosely who journeyed from the South-Atlantic Chapter to support us and Barbara Faison, President of the North Carolina Chapter, whose chapter sent us a $100 donation.

If you missed the evening, you certainly missed a treat. We understand that things do come up, however, if you indicated to me that you were going to come to the dinner but you weren't able to make it, we would appreciate it if you would send your check for your meal(s). Unfortunately, we had to pay for all of the meals that we guaranteed upfront. Thank you.

2009 Pledge Drive

The Georgia Chapter is in the middle of our pledge drive to raise $50,000 for the Earl S. Richardson Endowed Scholarship Fund. So Far, we've raised a little less than $5,000. We've got a long way to go, but it's not an insurmontable journey.  Make a pledge of $1000, $5000, or $10,000. A pledge can be paid over a short period of time and pledges greater than $5000 can be paid over a 5 year period.  Help us reach our goal.  If you've already made a donation consider increasing the amount by making a pledge. No amount is too small - if each one of us makes any contribution, we'll meet or possibly exceed our goal! Please contact Charlene Love at clove1223@aol.com or Shirley Wright at shiyvowri@msn.com for a pledge envelope.
